The smartphone features Triple rear cameras, waterdrop notch,2.5D glass design, 32MP selfie camera and a 4000 mAh battery. Today i am going to review the device and lets see how well it performs in terms of battery backup, performance and gaming. So, without any further delay lets get the review done.

First lets take a look and a overview at the box and In-Box contents of the smartphone. The box comes in a cyan type color with a big S4 logo and infinix branding itself. Opening the box we get the smartphone on the top, Lets take a look at In-Box contents now

It comes with The device itself, Micro USB cable, Power adapter (output 5V 2A), User manual, Warranty card, Sim ejector pin, Protective screen protector and a TPU plastic case.

Let’s start the review

Design And Display

The design of Infinix S4 is quite similar to its predecessor Smart 3 plus. It has a plastic build with 2.5D glass design on the back which looks and feels great. It comes with a dual tone gradient finish with a sparkle effect, the moment you hold the device in hand you can feel its premium design and build.

On the back you have a triple camera set up, the first is actually an 8 megapixel camera
for depth sensing, the middle you have the 13 megapixel primary camera and then you have the 2 megapixel ultra wide angle lens with Quad Flash. You have a fingerprint sensor and Infinix branding as well.

On the left you have a sim tray that houses 2 4G/LTE nano SIMS and an SD Card. On the right you have a power button and volume rockers. On the bottom, you have a 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, Micro USB port and a speaker. The Infinix S4 is the first of the S series to spot a glass back.

The screen is 6.2 inches , with an HD PLUS resolution which in pixel is 720 by 1520. Being a teardrop or waterdrop display as Infinix decided to call it, the aspect ratio is 19:9. The screen of the S4 is 500nits bright and its density is 270dpi.

Camera

Now let’s talk about the main USP of the smartphone “THE CAMERA”. As it is an entry level smartphone but the cameras which are provided in the phone are good. The Infinix S4 features a total of three cameras on the rear a 13-megapixel main camera  with a 2-megapixel depth camera, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera with 120-degree field of view. As per the price is concerned the device is capable of taking good pictures.

The phone does an excellent job of capturing macro shots as well as the detailing. Even the autofocus is fast. The wide-angle lens will also not disappoint you.

The normal camera mode is the AI camera mode where the AI in the smartphone assists in capturing a clear image. The camera app is also easy to use with all the basic features like video, AI cam, beauty mode, Bokeh, and an AR photo.

In outdoor lighting conditions the phone can take good pictures with good color reproduction as well as sharpness. Focusing speed is also good i would say, it’s not slow in comparison other budget segment devices, Shutter speed is also quite good.

For the selfie camera, it has multiple features like video, HDR, Flash, Portrait mode, beauty, and AR shot. In AR Shot it enables you take selfies with 3D images like Glasses , Caps Glasses etc. Other modes including Potrait mode and beautificatoin mode. It also has AI so you can use the AI Camera mode. Another good thing about the Selfie Camera is that it is possible to record Videos which are 1080p.

Performance

The Infinix S4 is powered by an Octa-Core 2.0GHz, MediaTek Helio P22 chipset with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. It is backed up by a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card slot. This octa-core mobile chipset is mediocre but it allows you to do all the day to day tasks with ease without many instances of lag.

In daily use we didn’t face any issues with regular usage, even when running multiple apps. The Infinix S4 handled it pretty well and most applications opened within a second or two of tapping the icon. In our regular usage, we found no noticeable lag whatsoever on the device and the smartphone delivered an overall good experience.

As far as gaming performance is concerned it is decent for the price and nothing awe-worthy. When we loaded a game of PUBG, the game defaulted to the lowest setting which was expected, however at this low setting the game perform without a stutter and was good i would say. Some other games like Subway surfers, temple run ran smooth without any issues.

For unlocking the phone, the company has provided a fingerprint scanner and face unlocking feature apart from regular pin pattern. We found the fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature quite fast and accurate for unlocking the device with no noticeable lags.

Battery and Software

The smartphone runs XOS 5.0 OS based on Android 9 Pie and is backed by a large 4,000mAh battery. The OS of the device is not the stock Android and it does come with an app drawer which is one of the better aspects of the smartphone. There are some bloatwares which comes pre instralled on the Infinix S4 are XTheme, Phone Master, Flipkart, PHX Browser, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, weather, Opera news, but you can uninstall these apps if you dont like them.

The battery can easily last for a full day even through heavy usage. In our test of a full day usage of social media apps like facebook, instagram and whatsapp as well as some pubg gameplay along with calling and photographs. The battery lasted the whole day. For light usage the battery can easily last up to a day and a half without any issues. The only cons in battery is that it doesn’t supports fast charging, so you have to wait around two and a half hour to get it fully charged.

The Final Verdict

The Infinix S4 is a smartphone which has some features which others competitive smartphones doesn’t have e.g triple camera, quad Led flash, 32MP selfie camera, long lasting 4000mAh battery, a good looking water drop notch only for Rs. 8,999 only. As the pricing is concerned the smartphone gives you a lot more than it. It is a suitable device for your daily tasks and can be the right pick for you if you are a moderate smartphone user.
