This year has been very interesting for Vivo, after their successive launch of V9 in “V” series they came up with Vivo v11 pro which is a big upgrade from V9. The smartphone has an In-display fingerprint sensor along with waterdrop notch and it is as same as X21 from vivo but priced cheaper than it.

The first thing you will notice is the eye catching in-display fingerprint scanner. With the V11 Pro, Vivo has managed to bring a new and revolutionary feature to the midrange, in the same range we have Oppo f9 pro and Nokia 7 plus as well.

I’ve been using the VIVO V11 Pro for more than a week so, without any further a due lets begin the review.

First lets see what are the box contents.

Design, Display and Build Quality:

The first thing that you will notice in the phone is its beautiful looking back which is made of poly-carbonate and there is slight gradient that Vivo call it the Starry Night. It has a two color gradient which changes W.R.T light. Although it doesn’t comes with Metal back which we see in its competitors but metal back gives different look and feel, while Polycarbonate back gives shine and a good look to it.

The earpiece is located above the display and the infrared sensor is on the right side along with other sensors. On the bottom it has a speaker grill on the left, the micro-USB charging port in the center and the audio jack on right. On the back, the Vivo branding is located in the center and the vertical dual camera setup is on left side along with flashlight.

As far as build quality is concerned it feels durable in hand, on the back its not glass so you don’t have to worry about any drop of fall. On the front there is a full HD+ (2340x1080p) super AMOLED FullView Halo Display 3.0 with 2.5D glass cover on top, it has corning gorilla protection on it and it comes with a pre-applied screen protector on it. The sunlight visibility is also great and after using it i did not felt any stress on eyes during reading or watching on the screen. Display is vivid, sharp and it has good contrast as well and bezels are so less so the phone looks stunning.

There are many tiny visual tweaks. For example, like when you unlock the phone, there are colorful stripes that run down the top and bottom of the screen, believe me guys they looks awesome and you can flaunt in front of people by showing fingerprint animation and those magical lines on sides of the screen.

Performance

On the performance side the phone is powered by  Snapdragon 660 processor along with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 256GB via a microSD card, the phone comes in only one variant and it comes with dual sim + micro SD card slot. I didn’t feel any lag or performance issues in the phone while loading apps, Playing games, opening camera etc. all were processed easily. It doesn’t heats up much while playing games or watching videos.

The Snapdragon 660 comes with AI integration so the smartphone is equipped with AI features in camera, battery and in other features. The phone keeps background apps working without force-closing them, and moving from one app to another shows no jitters or lags. As far as call quality is concerned, sound via earpiece is loud enough to hear in noisy areas but one thing that i noticed is the network drops while calling, it might be a software glitch because the device which is being reviewed is pre release phone, so the Retail units might be perfect. The sound quality through headphones is also great thanks to vivo for providing good quality DAC.

Vivo v11 Pro benchmarks

This in-display fingerprint technology is much improved with better detection and accuracy, you can use both fingerprint and face unlock together but the face unlock has a IR sensor so it works in full darkness without any problem and it is faster than fingerprint scanner.

Camera

Coming to the camera part, the Vivo V11 Pro has a 12MP f/1.8 sensor and a 1.28-micron pixel size with a 5MP camera with a f/2.4 lens for depth sensing. The front camera has a amazing 25MP f/2.0 lens for sharp selfies. The camera is a major upgrade from earlier vivo smartphones. It takes detailed shots in daylight conditions I was able to click some good looking pictures while using it. The dynamic range is good by default  but it becomes more good by turning on HDR.

The smartphone has AI technology so it has many features in the camera app like  AI face beauty, AR stickers. Face beauty is very aggressive if it is at 100% and there are many facial features like: Mouth shape, Nose, eye, jaw, thin face, skin tone etc. which  you can turn on by selecting whichever you want. More modes available are Doc, professional, panorama and videos. The video recording capability is 4k at 30fps and slo-mo recording is also available.

Here are some sample pictures which you might like.

Battery and Software

The Vivo V11 Pro comes with a 3400mAh battery, neither i can say it good nor bad. It gives the it power for more than a day. Gaming, video streaming and camera consume more battery, the display is so big and bright, so it is obvious that it can affects the battery life. But you don’t have to worry about battery as it comes with a 18W charger out of the box. The phone’s battery goes from 0 to 100 per cent in about an hour and a half which is quite fast. It doesn’t heats up while charging.

For software it has Vivo’s own Fun Touch OS 4.5 which runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. Vivo v11 pro comes with Jovi assistant and the Google Lens integration in the camera. More features include the gesture-based navigation, Face Unlock, Motorbike mode, Small screen, App Clone, Smart click, Smart Split, Easy touch, and a few more are available. So, It’s a feature-packed OS.

Conclusion: Should you buy it?

So, here is the answer “YES” you should buy this smartphone. The phone has a good build quality which gives premium feel to it. There are a few rare smartphones which has a good quality AMOLED panel and Vivo V11 pro is one of them, has impressive front and dual Rear cameras which gives great photos. Compared to Poco f1, V11 pro has a slighter weaker chipset but in day to day usage the difference isn’t that much, V11 pro has AMOLED display in comparison with LCD display of Poco f1 and has better Design and a better selfie camera.

Also Vivo v11 pro comes with several offers like one-time screen replacement, credit and debit card offers, etc. to further reduce effective cost. So, if you have a budget of around 25k and looking for a smartphone with great camera, AMOLED panel, waterdrop notch and a great design then this smartphone from vivo is a good deal for you.
