Build and Design

Oppo’s Realme1 stands alone at the peak with its diamond cut back design which is available only at expensive flagship Smartphones. The diamond cut back is placed on an acrylic plastic body with a supreme glass finish but although its not glass so you don’t have to worry about getting it cracked. The overall dimension of the phone is exact dimension of the OppoF7 (156*75.3*7.8mm). The solid build body is the super light weight of just 158g and it feels quite comfortable in the hand.

On the rear, the device packs a 13 MP rear camera with single LED flash under which Realme and OPPO branding. On the front it has full HD display resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and PPI density of approximately 402 pixels with 18:9 ratio and a 8 megapixels camera along with earpiece and proximity and light sensor. it comes without a front flash but it support face unlock function.

On the side left side volume rockers are there and on the right there are sim tray along with power button and the bottom of the phone has a Single speaker grill, USB port, two noise cancellation microphones and a headphone jack. Although it has a micro USB port not Type-C but it doesn’t matter because its specs and features.

Dual camera smartphones are in trend these days and all smartphone manufacturers are following it. Oppo Realme doesn’t have a dual camera setup but in addition to that it, comes with AI camera with 13MP sensor that makes the work done of two cameras and on the front, it has 8MP selfie camera. The camera is packed camera modes such as depth of field, i.e. Bokeh effect and a super vivid mode to capture images with vivid colours like (HDR).

It has AI 2.0 beautification for both front and rear camera and comes with AI sticker mode that gives fun stickers which we can see on instagram, facebook and snapchat these days. Other camera features are usual like Time-Lapse, Video, Panorama and Expert mode. In the video section both rear and front cameras are capable of recording 1080p Full HD.

Camera takes good quality pictures with good level of details, sharpness and saturation. Using this camera app, it is quite simple to use, and the user can find all camera options within the app. While clicking pictures we did not noticed any lag in shutter speed it is amazingly fast, Focusing speed it also good because of PDAF which works well.

Here are a few samples which we took from Oppo Realme 1

The overall image quality of Realme 1 is good, The pictures were clicked perfectly in extreme daylight condition and artificial lighting conditions as well.

On the performance side this smartphone beats every smartphone in its price range, it has most powerful mid range processor Mediatek Helio P60 with 12nm which is highly powerful and power efficient. The competition smartphones such as Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor.

Moving on to the operating system, the Realme 1 runs on Oppo’s ColorOS 5.0 UI based on Android Oreo 8.1 This is the same operating system version seen on oppo F7. There is very little bloatware and comes with some much-needed features that ease the use of your phone. There are few interesting features to be found in the settings such as the option to hide the navigation bar and enable gesture navigation so that you can make full use of the 18:9 display. You also have options like app cloning and app split-screen, Game Acceleration which optimizes game-play when enabled for a seamless experience, among other things.

The smartphone comes in 3 variants lower model with 3GB/32GB and it is priced at , Middle one with 4GB/64GB and the top model with 6GB/128GB storage option. It has face unlocking feature which is noticeably very fast but when it was launched it was less secure and it can easily unlocked with closed eyes as well, but two days ago it got an update that solved this issue and make its face unlocking even more secure but it does not have a fingerprint sensor.

After test of antutu benchmark i got a score of about 134140 which is quite impressing in this price point, It beats Redmi note 5 pro in benchmarks.

It is a dual sim phone with a dedicated SD Card slot that can be expanded up to 256 GB.  It also has a 3.5 mm headphone jack but no Type C port. While using the device it handles multitasking better with its performance, it gives a lag free use, and the device doesn’t heat up while performing high-end graphics games like Tekken or Asphalt 8 and PUBG

Oppo Realme 1 comes with a battery capacity of 3410 mAh, I was surprised to see the battery backup of this smartphone and its because of its AI technology for battery, For an average or normal user it can give you one and a half day of battery backup which it quite impressing. For high end user or while playing high graphic intensive games it can lasts up to a day, also it gives great standby time as well. Although it doesn’t comes with fast charging so it will take about two hours to charge it from 0-100%.

So here comes the final part, Should you buy it?

The realme is a sub brand from very known company OPPO which is giving tough competition to its competitors brands like xiaomi and honor in mid-segment category.

It comes with a powerful processor Helio P60 which gives snappy performance and smooth multi tasking thanks to capable chipset and Ram with a good battery backup. Design of the smartphone is attractive with its diamond cut design with a huge 6.0 inch display with 18:9 ratio. Viewing angles are good, the only thing which is noticeable is its brightness which is little bit low in bright outdoor sunlight (It’s not that much low). The moment you hold the device can feel how light weight it is and how comfortable it is to hold in hand, One plus point is that it comes with pre-applied screen protector and a good quality clear back cover.

The fact it that the top variant of Realme 1 will take on its competitors xiaomi redmi note 5 and Asus zenfone max pro M1 with its powerful performance and AI features. So if you are looking for a smartphone with Good performance, good battery life and especially Good looking phone then Oppo Realme 1 should be enough for you.
